Day 1

Secure intake

After you purchase, you'll receive a link to our online intake questionnaire and a secure upload folder for your documents. Most clients complete this in 45 to 90 minutes.

Days 2–6

Expert review

A SHRM-certified HR professional reviews your intake and documents. We identify findings, research state-specific requirements, prepare your written report, and customize the documents you'll need.

Day 7

Report & debrief

You receive your complete audit report, custom documents, and a scheduled Zoom debrief to walk through findings, answer questions, and discuss priorities. Your 30-day support window begins.

What we review

The full scope of small business HR.

Every audit covers eight core areas of your HR operation, reviewed against federal law, the specific state laws that apply to your business, and current HR best practices.

HR governance & administration

Organizational structure, HR responsibilities, required federal and state postings, EEO reporting obligations, document retention across all record types.

Personnel files & recordkeeping

File-by-file review, required vs. optional documents, I-9 audit, medical file separation, retention schedules.

Recruiting & hiring

Job descriptions, application forms, interview processes, offer letters, background checks, state and local law compliance across every recruiting location.

Compensation & classification

Full FLSA duties-test analysis for every exempt role, W-2 vs. 1099 review, pay equity review, multi-state minimum wage and overtime practices.

Performance management

Review processes, documentation quality, goal-setting frameworks, manager training on performance conversations.

Safety & workers' compensation

OSHA compliance review, injury reporting procedures, return-to-work practices, workers' comp carrier coordination.

Discipline & termination

Progressive discipline frameworks, termination documentation, separation processes, final pay compliance, reference and verification policies.

Handbook & workplace policies

Full policy-by-policy review against current federal and state law in every state where you have employees, with recommendations for updates.

What you receive

Three deliverables. One engagement.

1

Written audit report

A comprehensive document with risk-ranked findings across all eight areas, plain-English explanations of each issue, and prioritized remediation steps. Yours to keep, forward, or share with your attorney.

2

Custom implementation documents

Tailored templates and policy language for the priority gaps we identify — progressive discipline forms, exit interview questionnaires, I-9 correction guidance, policy language, and more based on what your audit surfaces.

3

30 days of support

Email support for questions about your findings and recommendations. One additional 30-minute check-in call. Same-business-day response during business hours.

FAQ

Common questions about the process.

Do you come onsite?

No. Everything is done remotely through secure online intake and document upload. That's how we can offer this at our price point instead of $5,000+. Remote by design, not by compromise.

What documents do you need from me?

Your current handbook, job descriptions for a sample of roles (we'll tell you which), a sample of personnel files (we'll tell you how to pull them while protecting privacy), your I-9 file, any standardized hiring documents (application, offer letter template, interview questions), and any HR policies or procedures that exist in writing. We'll send you a clear checklist at intake.

Is my data secure?

Yes. Documents are uploaded to an encrypted portal, accessible only to your assigned reviewer. We retain documents only as long as needed to complete the audit and the 30-day support window, after which they're deleted unless you request retention.

What states do you cover?

All 50 states. Your audit includes state-specific compliance findings for every state where you have employees.

Are you a law firm?

No. We're HR consultants, not attorneys. We'll identify compliance risks and flag any issues that require legal counsel. Many clients use our audit findings to have more focused (and less expensive) conversations with their employment attorney.

What happens after the 30-day support window?

You can extend support through our monthly HR advisory subscription, come back for an annual re-audit at a returning client rate, or handle everything independently with the tools we've given you. No obligation.

Ready to know where you stand?

Seven days from intake to findings. Everything included. No discovery calls.
